Exploring Innovation at the Dilmenler (DMS) Factory

Last December, our team visited the Dilmenler factory in Turkey, deepening our collaborative ties with this esteemed partner. This strategic expedition served not only as an immersive training programme, but also an opportunity to witness Dilmenler's cutting-edge manufacturing capabilities.

Situated within an expansive 120,000 square meters of enclosed production space, the Dilmenler factory is a marvel of operational efficiency and innovation! The impressive factory tour revealed the seamless integration of automation and robotics within their manufacturing process - truly defining Dilmenler's commitment to excellence and precision.

An essential part of Dilmenler's manufacturing process is the internal production of all components for their diverse range of machinery in the dyeing and finishing sector. This in-house approach ensures meticulous quality control throughout the production lifecycle.

Complementing the factory infrastructure is the Megam dye house, exclusively employing their own machinery to process makloon orders, producing around 35 tons per day (with facility extension to launch soon, to increase production by 20 tons per day). The Megam dye house is not only a production powerhouse but also serves as the epicenter for the company's research and development initiatives to actively propel the textile sector forward with timely innovations.

We look forward to close collaboration and are excited for the new developments of Dilmenler this year!

Path to Sustainable Textile Practices: Insights from the TESTEX Seminar in Semarang on Dec 13, 2023

The seminar shed light on the crucial theme, "Sustainability Solution: Modular Control on Input, Process, and Output." Organized by #Testex, the seminar brought together industry experts and thought leaders to explore innovative approaches toward achieving sustainability goals in the textile supply chain.

The seminar commenced with impactful opening remarks by Liliek Setiawan, Chairman of #API Central Java. Setiawan addressed the pressing challenges within Indonesia's textile industry and emphasizing the nation's potential to emerge as a global player. A significant focal point was the imperative shift from #fastfashion to #sustainablefashion , with a spotlight on the growing importance of sustainable and customized production in the apparel and manufacturing sector.

Jean-Pierre Haug, COO of Testex, delved into the intricacies of Oeko-Tex certification processes along the textile value chain. From #Standard100 to #DetoxToZero, and the #EcoPassport for textile chemicals, colorants, and auxiliaries, the comprehensive session explored various certification avenues. Notably, Dr. Haug introduced the #Oekotex #MadeinGreen, an accolade awarded to consumer textile products crafted in environmentally friendly facilities, ensuring safe and socially responsible workplaces.

A critical aspect of the seminar was the exploration of the relationship between OEKO-TEX® and ZDHC Roadmap to Zero Programme (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals). Attendees gained insights into how Oeko-Tex and #ZDHC MRSL align to protect the environment, highlighting the industry's commitment to responsible and sustainable practices.

Basrie Kamba, Chairman of Rantai Tekstil Lestari, emphasized the collaborative efforts required to enhance sustainability in the textile and fashion industry. Hello from the Wall Of Fades!

Last month, we visited the annual ‘Wall Of Fades’ organized by Darahkubiru. #WoF is the biggest denim exhibition and market in Indonesia! From obscurity, it has grown to become one of Jakarta's most renowned lifestyle events. During its early days, it drew the attention of strictly denim fans, with only a handful of local brands. However, it has now managed to bring together more than 60 of them, not only focused on denim but also on men's fashion in general.

It was great to engage with a number of local denim brands and learn more about the innovative approach of a top denim producer and one of our trusted customer PT Badjatex!

We look forward to being part of the #sustainabledenim movement in Indonesia and beyond. 👖

Synergy for Sustainability – A ZDHC Event in Indonesia: Accelerating Sustainable Chemical Management

On July 5th, we had the privilege to attend the first stakeholder engagement event organized by ZDHC Roadmap to Zero Programme on "Accelerating Sustainable Chemical Management: The ZDHC Way". The event provided a valuable occasion for industry leaders, experts, and solution providers to come together and address the challenges and opportunities of sustainable chemical management in the textile, apparel, leather, and footwear manufacturing industry.

The opening address by Basrie Kamba highlighted the need for collective efforts to overcome the challenges in phasing out hazardous chemicals and to drive industry-wide transformation. It served as a powerful reminder that our commitment to sustainability extends beyond individual organizations.

We heard from two prominent brands H&M and adidas, who shared their perspectives, goals and expectations from suppliers and manufacturers. Astoundingly, H&M employs a wide range of 30,000 chemicals, and their achievement of already reaching 97% ZDHC MRSL compliance is a testament to their proactive approach.

#Adidas shed light on the additional challenges faced by the footwear industry, which deals with a higher volume of chemicals compared to the textile and apparel sector. Their direct collaboration with chemical manufacturers demonstrates their dedication to ensuring responsible practices and sustainable outcomes.

Both Mia Gunawan and Yudithia . shared their brand's ambitious targets to spearhead the industry into a more sustainable future. In this era, collaboration between brands (including with their competitors) and directly with chemical companies in the realm of sustainability has become pivotal, as we are collectively part of the #RoadmapToZero programme.

The event invited solution providers including TESTEX AG, Swiss Textile Testing Institute, JAY Chemical Industries Private Limited, and our valued partner Panta Rei Water Solutions to presented their technologies and innovations for implementations aligned with #ZDHCguidelines and standards.

Mary Rose Egloff presented #Testex 's #EcoPassport certification for chemicals which holds immense value for brands and manufacturers seeking to demonstrate their commitment to sustainability and drive positive change within the industry.

#JayChemicals Mahesh Muralidhar shared their expertise in the field and presented a wide selection of products in line with sustainable chemical solutions.

We are particularly proud of our partner #PantaRei for their innovative #WasteWaterManagement technologies which Manuel Romero Fernández presented. Their solutions effectively manage wastewater and reduce chemical output - adhering to the ZDHC standards and playing a crucial role in our joint effort toward sustainability.

As the first fully integrated viscose rayon producer in Asia, Asia Pacific Rayon (APR) shared more about their 100% natural and biodegradable viscose-rayon production process. Their #APR2030 target includes becoming climate and nature positive, ensuring clean and closed loop manufacturing and accelerating circularity – and achieving the aspirational level of ZDHC.

A key take away of the event is that we must go beyond compliance level, and strive to achieve a progressive to an aspirational level of ZDHC. #Sustainability in textiles is not merely a buzzword; it represents a fundamental shift in our industry. As the value chain becomes increasingly more complex, our collective synergy toward sustainability becomes ever so critical.
